Foreword to a Never Published Work of Military History, Found in a Cache of Leaked Classified Documents
I have done what I could to assemble a clear and sensible text from the scattered notes and outlines recovered from [REDACTED], adding detail where possible from [SEVERAL LINES REDACTED] Freedom of Information Act requests on the topic at hand. Every reasonable effort has been made to preserve [3-4 WORDS REDACTED] conclusions, at least insofar as they were clearly stated: his last writings were, quite frankly, barely comprehensible. It’s an incredible shame that the fire took him and his magnificent library so suddenly, but it seems, in examining his papers, that he was not well when he passed; I can only wonder what led him to send all these materials to me. Still, no one (outside [REDACTED]) knows more about this than [REDACTED]. I hope my meager attempt to bring his last and greatest work to light is a fitting tribute to a man I considered a friend.
The Cue
I cheated on this one: it's about 150 words long. Regardless, the cue for this week's 100 Word RPG Hook was "tribute." Next week's cue is "frontier." Write your own 100 words, send me the link (or post it on Twitter with hashtag #rpghook) and I'll post your story with mine right here on the blog!
