“The boy Alexei,” I said matter-of-factly, before they shot me, “is a monster.” His attentions must have wandered, to another one of his playthings, returning me a modicum of free-will. I saw a single, desperate chance to strike at the demon-child. I could hurt it, finally -- perhaps fatally -- if I was killed while its will once more inhabited me.
The bullets were as nothing; the would-be assassins grew ever more desperate.
They returned.
I lunged, clutching Prince Felix’s lapel to whisper five final words of my own before the beast’s will subsumed my own.
“Our death...is living water.”
The Cue
This week's inspiration for the 100 Word RPG Hook was provided by our own Ruth Cthulhuchick: "Rasputin." You can read all sorts of Ruth's musing on Twitter @cthulhuchick. For additional early 20th century Russian inspiration, you might want to read up on allegations that the entire Romanov dynasty was a secret tool of the Illuminati.
Care to write your own 1oo words with the same cue? Draft it up and post a link on twitter with hashtag #100words and #rpghook and I'll link it up here on the site!
