The campfire was still smoldering, the smoky haze floating low as the policemen worked quickly around the crime scene.
“Boss, the owner wants us to get this processed quickly and get our cruisers out so the other campers aren't disturbed.”
The detective looked at the uniformed rookie, letting his piercing gaze suffice for a reply. The rookie turned away.
The detective turned to where the specialist team had pulled their van and was unloading oddly stuffed duffel bags.
